Juan Carlos “J.C.” Mas

Juan Carlos “J.C.” Mas currently serves as the chairman of The Mas Group, a firm focused on identifying, analyzing, and investing in areas where it possesses core expertise, including infrastructure development, real estate, construction equipment, and healthcare.

Mr. Mas is also the founder and chairman of Synergy Rents, a thriving construction equipment rental company, operating across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Since its launch in 2013, Synergy has rapidly expanded to 20 locations marking it as one of the fastest-growing equipment rental firms in the United States. In addition to Synergy, Mr. Mas owns and manages seven Bobcat dealerships in Florida, focusing on sales and service in the construction equipment sector. He is actively engaged in Florida’s real estate market through his company, Florida RE Holdings. Over the years, he has entitled, owned, and developed millions of square feet of residential and commercial properties in Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. Florida RE has built a strong reputation across various asset classes, including student housing, self-storage, medical offices, and hospitality.

Furthermore, Juan Carlos chairs the board of Cross Country Infrastructure Services, a major supplier of materials, tools, parts, and equipment for the oil and gas pipeline construction industry. Mr. Mas is also a former board member of CareCloud, a distinguished On-Demand 100 software and services company for healthcare that has earned recognition in cloud computing.

Previously, Mr. Mas served on the board of managers at Lightning Diversion Systems, the global leader in designing and producing segmented lightning diverter strips and other innovative lightning protection products for the aerospace and wind turbine sectors. During his tenure, he helped transition the company from a founder-owned operation to an institutional-grade entity, ultimately leading to its sale in 2017 to a publicly traded company. Mr. Mas has also contributed his expertise as a board member of ModSpace, the largest provider of temporary and permanent modular buildings across North America, and Lemartec, a full-service design-build construction management firm specializing in industrial facilities.

Earlier in his career, he founded, served as chairman, and was the CEO of Neff Corporation (NYSE, NFF), a Miami-based construction equipment rental company recognized among the largest and best in the U.S. During an industry downturn in 2001, Mr. Mas repositioned Neff Corp. to become one of the fastest-growing rental companies in the country.

Before joining Neff Corp., Mr. Mas held various executive roles at MasTec, Inc. (NYSE: MTZ), including serving as president of MasTec International. MasTec, Inc. is a major infrastructure construction company that mainly operates in North America across various industries. The company designs, builds, installs, maintains, and upgrades energy, utility, and communication systems. This includes work on electrical utility transmission and distribution, power generation, and natural gas and petroleum pipelines, as well as wireless, wireline, and satellite communications. MasTec also develops wind farms, solar farms, and other renewable energy projects, along with different types of industrial infrastructure. During his time there, Mr. Mas managed a range of businesses in the U.S., Europe, and Central and South America. He was key in changing MasTec from a small family-owned business into a public company that still values its commitment to positive principles.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. Mas is a dedicated civic and community leader. He has served on the board of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for over 20 years and Director of the Mas Family Scholarships, an organization established by his family to provide scholarships to underprivileged young students who demonstrate leadership skills and hold the values of a free society. To date, more than 300 scholarships have been awarded to students at prestigious universities, including Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Columbia. Additionally, Mr. Mas is the founder of Empower Farms, a permaculture farm located in South Florida. The farm's mission is to highlight the value of every individual, regardless of their abilities. Through their initiatives, Empower Farms seeks to demonstrate that everyone can make meaningful contributions, helping to build self-esteem and empower futures.

Mr. Mas is also an active member of the School Board at Christopher Columbus High School and has participated in the Young Presidents Organization Miami chapter, where he currently moderates his YPO forum. His contributions have been recognized by numerous organizations, including his induction into his high school’s Hall of Fame, and receiving the prestigious National Human Relations Award from the American Jewish Committee. Throughout his career, he has served on the boards of the YMCA of Greater Miami, the Easter Seals Society, and the Wellness Community. He has chaired events for UNICEF and the March of Dimes and has been involved with the United Way, the Orange Bowl Committee, and the Super Bowl XXXIII Host Committee. Additionally, Mr. Mas was a trustee of the Beacon Council, volunteering with various other organizations for the benefit of the South Florida community. He has also participated in federal and local government committees, including the Downtown Development Authority, the City of Miami Mayor’s Advisory Committee, and the Metro-Dade County Sports Facility and Finance Authority.

JC Mas holds a law degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami. He and his wife, Vivian, reside in Coral Gables, Florida, with their two sons.
